Regarding the various comments complaining that this piece doesn't deserve a Daily Deviation, I neither agree or disagree. Art is expression of ideas and imagination, this technically is art. Whether it deserves an award or not, I wouldn't know. I could say no, or I could say yes, but really I'd never be right.
But I do believe that that the joy, inspiration and ideas that may be provoked from this image for some people, is the true essence of what art really is. The transferring of emotion from one to another.
Personally, being female and not a huge fan of photography, I don't care much for this piece. But really, it doesn't matter, its my taste, not the quality of the piece. I think we should all respect it and it's admirers.
Be nice to one another, it doesn't hurt. C: I hope I haven't offended anyone.
I am really surprised that this particulal picture triggers so many comments ! First of all, this girl is very healthy and not anorexic at all. It is really remarkable that as soon as you post a picture of a slim girl you gat this kind of remarks. Above that, she is featured in several images here on my profile but only this one is getting all the attention. Nevertheless i appreciate all the comments and opinions very much ! Keep watching please !!
...I personally do believe that this is a bit... odd as a DD. It's just a picture that nearly shows the female Genitals, while in a bit of a perverted form. I truthfully do not understand the tastefulness in this, especially with just how short the pants were cut to make these shorts. But that is my opinion, and there is a reason why this is selected as a DD, though I personally don't really know.
I know that part, I had checked who featured it. c:
I'm just not very much of someone who's experienced in this category of art, so thus I do not understand why this piece specifically was selected as one. Sorry if I confused you,, and I apologize if I've offended.
If you're not sure why something was featured - approach the CV who featured it (in this case ^DistortedSmile) because the photographer cannot do much about it... he just uploads his art here like everyone else. it was her choice not his, so confront her not him
I know, it's jus' that I don't really understand glamour pictures at all, personally, so naturally I wouldn't understand why it got a DD. c:
I wasn't trying to ram up against anyone, so... no offense, but the wording choice at the end made it seem like I was saying that it shouldn't be a DD. I just don't get the kind of art it is, so I just don't understand, I'm not against this being a DD at all.
You're actually ramming up the innocent photographer without even knowing :/ Which does come as an offence - imagine something of yours got featured and someone came along and left you a comment "I don't know why this was even featured". Even if it's because this person does not understand about this kind of art you do, tell me you wouldn't be offended?
I just try and let others know, like yourself, that if you have ANY query, ANY problem, or ANY comment about the reason why this particular piece of art was featured, whether you understand a lot or a little about it, approach the CV not the photographer. You would have easily offended me with your comment as I'm just the regular artist with no power over what gets a DD and what doesn't - and in your innocence would have offended me.
Oh, well, I apologize. There's no excuse for my comment sounding offensive, and I never meant it in that way, I'll learn to keep my comments to myself.
I apologize about my behavior, and I should most likely also apologize to the photographer, since what I had said was uncalled for. I never really meant any harm in the first place, so yet again, I apologize.
I do think of what I say, too, it's just that I don't think like other people do, not trying to make excuses or anything, and I'm NOT gonna enlist something due to then it'd sound like I was making up excuses, but I jus' need to keep it from being said apparently because most of the time it'll probably offend.
You don't need to apologize to me - but to the photographer as you said
I know and understand you fully - sometimes you really don't intend to be offensive, but it does come out that way. Happens to me too - but this is why I'm here commenting; to pass on what I've learnt from personal experience.
But I see this kind of comment way too often and some people really do intend to be offensive and bring down the art of others because most often they are jealous their work didn't ever make it and think theirs is superior.
But really - in the future if you have any queries, ask the CV ^^ It's alright - you're being alright about it instead of retaliating and that's nice (:
Nothing "deserves" a DD as it's not an award. Also, it's not "taking up space", as each community volunteer represents a specific gallery, and features that gallery only. ^DistortedSmile features glamour photography. So it's not taking away from her featuring any more "worthy" art, however you define that...as she only features glamour.
Well, a DD isn't an award though. It's just a little spotlight that a particular artist though the piece deserved. No piece "deserves" a DD really. It's all about preferences and the artist's opinion who featured the work in the first place. The artist who featured this piece perhaps thought it was unique and stood out in a way, and thus is why it got a DD.
